Help with Madden...

Ok, Im running the west coast offense and the 46 defense on Madden. I can stop the opposing offense, but Im not getting sacks. I can pass on offense, but I cant run. Anyone got any tips they wanna help me out with? Any plays you run. Adam Im looking at you, lol.

I think the best tip for running is not to hit turbo immediately. Let the blockers block first, then hit turbo through the hole. Sometimes if your paitent, then it will develop and you can shoot through the hold. What i did, is went into to practice mode for about an hour, just put offense and defense on random plays, and looked at the play before hand and ran whatever it gave me......helped my offense alot.

That same strategy is actuall true for pass rushing. If you're blitzing your LBs or CB/S, then let the defensive linemen engage the blockers before you blast off toward the QB. If you're just sending your defensive linemen, then your best best is to either take a fast DE around the outside of the OT or just take a power guy and use your "power move" the right way to beat blockers.

One trick I've learned, when you're sure it's a pass coming, is to spread your line as wide as possible. Take control of the DT and move him even further out, to where he's facing directly in front of the offensive tackle and your DE/OLB is pushed even further out. When the ball is snapped, take the DT as fast possible and go at the tackle. One of two thing will usually happen... either your DT will occupy the tackle and let your DE/OLB have a free run at the QB, or the OT will get confused and your DT will get a free run. It works probably 80% of the time. You can get BURNED on run plays, though, so be careful.

Well thats just it Haynie, Im killing the run, but I cant get the QB. Either he gets it out and I tackle the guy when he catches it or its incomplete. Ill try the trick where you move the DT over but I like to be the LE (if you are playing the DE on the left). My favorite blitzes are SS Blitz out of the 46, Zone Blitz out of the Dime, and Inside Blitz out of the 46.

I dont hit sprint (R2) until Im through the LOS, but for some reason Felix just wont break a tackle. Ive tried running him up the middle and around the edge on counters, nothing seems to work. Ive got Barber out for 10 weeks so I have to find a way to get him going.

I got 45 sacks in one year on franchise mode with Ware on All-Pro. Most of them came in dime or nickle and I would shift the line over to the right side of the screen and I put Ware over as that edge rusher on that side, then I have the line rush to the right after shifting them that way(after you select the line, click right on the right thumbstick), then I personally audible Ware's blitz to straight forward (down on the right thumbstick) and scoot him out to the right pretty far and then just blast in as soon as the ball is hiked. Untouched most of the time.

IT sounds like a lot but its really only a 3 second process.

As for running, have you tried shifting your line to the side your running? On xbox its left trigger, im guessing thats L2 on PS. And then you click left or right before the play and the line blocks in that direction. Also, keep trying new plays each game. It seems I get favorite run plays each game that seem to work.

Yeah, Ive been experimenting with moving my line to the side Im running to. It seems that my problem is my line wont block. When they do I get huge gains, when they dont I get stuffed.

Ill try that line adjust on the defense. Ware has 5 sacks for me in 5 games as of now.

Ok, well now that Ive finished my 5th game Ware has 9 sacks. He had 6 in the last game vs the Chiefs. I forgot to sub him in on a certain package I like to use and now hes getting sacks regularly.

These are my rushing totals after 5 games.

Felix Jones 66 rushes 260 yards 3.9 avg 2 TDs
Marion Barber 45 rushes 129 yards 2.8 avg 3 TDs
Tashard Choice 31 rushes 95 yards 3.0 avg 0 TDs
Tony Romo 5 rushes 44 yards 8.8 avg 1 TD

Overall that is 147 rushes 528 yards 3.5 avg 6 TDs.

After 5 games Im ranked 11th in total yards, 32nd in total offense, 32nd in passing (673 yards), 18th in rushing (528 yards). Yet my point per game is 29 and Im second in the league in sacks allowed (8).

Now, my defense is 1st in total yards, 3rd in passing (963), 1st in rushing (344 yards), 1st in points (63), T15th in sacks (14), 2nd in INTs (12), T6th FR (1).

So I can play defense but my offense is sucking ass, I dont know what to do. Im used to being able to get the ball downfield, but it just doesnt seem to be that easy this year. Im playing on All-Pro as I have for the last like 10 years. I just cant seem to figure it out. Its so bad that I lost to the Chiefs 17-16 and I only scored 1 TD and that was on a Romo scramble.
