Giants rookie receiver Steve Smith suffered a fractured shoulder blade in the Giants' 35-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and while the Giants don't believe he's out for the season, he could be out for a while.

The injury occurred on the Giants' second drive when he made a 10-yard catch over the middle. The Giants initially called it a "scapula injury," and Tom Coughlin had nothing to say about it after the game.

But it is believed to be fractured, which means he's out for at least a month.

In other injury news:

• WR Plaxico Burress re-injured his right ankle and didn't play in the fourth quarter, though he said he expects to be fine next week.

• Rookie RB/KR Ahmad Bradshaw injured his elbow on his fumbled kickoff return and left the locker room wearing a sling.

• Backup LB Reggie Torbor also left with a sling, after hurting his left elbow.

• Backup DE Adrian Awasom left wearing a sling on his right arm and a neck brace after suffering what a team official called "a stinger."

• Backup QB Jared Lorenzen, who mopped up in the fourth quarter after Eli Manning was pulled, sprained his left ankle.

What they should do is buy stock in slings. Also doesn't it always seems like Plax is always hurt one way or the other?
