Giants DE Osi Umenyiora, who didn't even last one full defensive series last night against the Cowboys, has a left knee injury that likely will keep him out of action for about two months, according to someone who spoke with Umenyiora.
The person, who requested anonymity because injury information is supposed to be distributed by the Giants, said an MRI on Umenyiora's medial collateral ligament this morning gave little reason to hope he would return anytime soon.
This would not be the first time that former Pro Bowler will miss a significant portion of a season due to injury. Umenyiora missed six games in the middle of last season with a hip flexor.
