Aikman says Giants better off without Barber

Troy Aikman told the New York Post that it looks like Tiki Barber, despite all his talent, had a lot to do with the Giants underachieving in recent seasons.

Aikman believes you win with character, something Barber seems to lack.

"With Tiki being gone, it opens the door for Eli to be more assertive in the locker room," Aikman told the paper. "You just don't play with guys with the ability and production of a Tiki Barber, but that's not to say this team can't be better."

Riiighhttt... if there was no Tiki Barber, there was no Giants. Granted they used to have a decent defense, Tiki Barber was the offense.

This is one time where I do not agree with Aikman. He was not there in that locker room so he does not know what was said or what was not said. I think he is basing his statement on what Tiki has said since he retired.

Aikman probably does not respect that Tiki has criticized Eli and Coughlin.

I agree with you on that 1

Aikman is way off. I think Troy is thinking with his heart here. While it wasn't the best thing on earth to do, Tiki was the offense for the Giants. Time will tell if Jacobs is the answer, but when you look at the stuff Tiki did once he got the ball, it's impossible to imagine too many people who could do what he did.

I think Troy's publicist told him to say something controversial so people would remember he's still around.
