Best Kept Secret:
Jay Ratliff
The Cowboys hit on Jay Ratliff in the seventh round of the 2005 draft, and he has become one of the more versatile players on the roster, Ratliff (6-4, 298) can play defensive end or defensive tackle. Right now, he is playing defensive end because of an injury to Jason Hatcher, but he moves to DT in the nickel defense. He is a reltentless pass rusher who plays with a lot of emotion, D-line coach Kacy Rodgers calls him the line's unsung hero.
Worst Kept Secret
Terence Newman
Cornerback Terence NEwman, bothered by plantar fascitis in his right foot during the preseason, is poised to have a breakthrough season. He has been a solid player since being chosen in the first round in 2003, but he now shoul dbe considered one of the top two or three corners in the league. He has tremendous speed and rarely gets beat. A better pass rush should allos him to make a few more interceptions this season and finally earn a Pro Bowl invitation.
