 I was chatting with a volunteer from Happy Hill Farm, a home/school for at-risk kids, before the Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon the other day when she mentioned that T.O. was one of the Cowboys who frequently visit the farm. He goes to Granbury to sign autographs and spend time with the kids.
"I think that it comes with the responsibility of me being a person, number one," T.O. said. "Any time that I can go out and be in the community and help out, I'm more than willing to do that. That’s something that I've always done since I’ve been in San Francisco.
"I don't do it for the recognition. I've done it, like I said, since I’ve been in San Francisco and don't obviously get the recognition of doing things. But sometimes they say, if you're doing things from the heart, it really doesn't matter if you get the recognition or not.
"I see a lot of guys getting a lot of praise for doing a lot of things in the community. Of course, I would like to get recognized for doing a lot of the things I do, but it just doesn’t happen that way. I just feel blessed to go out and be able to put a smile on a kid's face or make a kid's day."
I figure as much as T.O. gets ripped for doing wrong, he ought to get a pat on the back for doing right.
