Moore being cut was not a surprise. This team was going with two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster the whole way. Moore had a nice preseason, but teams will not use a valuable spot on the final roster for a QB they have not seen practice. He has an upside, but not that much of an upside.
He's back on the practice squad, in my opinion. And if somebody wants to sign him off the practice squad later in the year, then all the Cowboys have to do is promote him to the 53-man roster and he stays.
Here's how it works: if a team puts a move on a practice squadder, the agent will call the team the player is already on to give him a heads up. The team generally will call the player up to the active roster. And remember this: a player doesn't have to leave the practice squad if he doesn't want to.
