Cornerback changes

Do you really believe the Cowboys will keep the current cornerbacks on the roster?

I'm of the belief the team will make another move at corner. I can't believe the team has that much confidence in Jacques Reeves as the third corner on passing downs.

Aaron Glenn is open to returning to the team if the Cowboys want to re-sign him once the season starts according to his agent Jimmy Sexton.

Glenn was one of the key veterans in the locker room and he will be missed. However, he was much slower than last season and he did get his knee drained during training camp. With Terence Newman battling foot problems it would be difficult to rely on Glenn to cover the No. 2 receiver if Newman had to miss a game.

So, from that standpoint, the Cowboys did the right thing. Now, they have to find some quality backups.
Joey Thomas getting cut was a surprise, but he was up and down during his time in Dallas. Thomas told me he expects to sign with another team.

I'm surprised there are 6 safeties on the roster, even though Keith Davis and Elam are great special team players, we are pretty stacked at Safety right now...
Do they trust Reeves and Jones that much?!

Glenn will be back after week 1. Cowboys did'nt want to guarantee his salary for the year. They want to let the other teams fill out their rosters, with hopes of releasing and sliding one of the 7th rounders on the practice squad.

that sounds logical

At first I was really mad when I heard Glenn was cut. And then I got even madder when I heard if Newman isn't ready to go Week 1, it would be Reeves in his place. Reeves can't catch a cold out there.

What made me feel a bit better was that we signed Evan Oglesby, a two-year veteran who was cut by the Baltimore Ravens. He played 16 games for the Ravens, one of the best defenses last year. So he should be some type of insurance policy in Oglesby.

I see your logic in linking hope with Oglesby to one of the best D's in the NFL. I just hope you are right. I would be thrilled to death if this pick turned out to be huge for us. I have to say that I am still very concerned and worried though. I know about the Baltimore Defense but I don't know much about Oglesby. It makes you wonder why did they cut him?

Well this is one reason why I always say "I Think", or "My Gut tells me" in my posts because when you throw out a guarantee and it does not happen it makes you look silly.

Just messing with you a little. I did read some articles by top writers that were saying the same thing about Glenn coming back after week 1. So I know where you were basing your information from.

Even though it was pre-season I think we saw a Glimpse of what Glenn has become against the Texans..An Easy Target to pick on! Regardless of his Veteran Leadership blah, blah blah, It's a Show me league and He didn't show anything..So nows the time to move on and see Who else wants to step up when the Lights go on!

you make a good point but I thought he made a good play to start against the vikings when he knocked down the ball on one of the first plays of the game. I figured he would get snatched quickly and hope the boys don't end up regreting this.

LC Glenn certainly is not the best in the league and he has lost a step due to age or whatever. The thing that is bewildering is that was he so bad that Reeves was a much better start if Newman is out? That is what most of us are asking and find hard to believe.

I think maybe they envisioned what was to become of him as the season went on and they could make due with what they have on the roster

They can't trade Spears because I voted to give him a chance under Wade's defensive scheme in the other thread. B)

I agree. I am not sold at all on the rumor that Spears is in the works of being traded for a CB or any other position.

I agree, don't see us getting value from our 1st rounder. Corners that can shut it down are too rare to be traded for a DE unless he's a monster. Unfortunately he's not yet, and if he was we wouldn't want to trade him. Anyone interested in trading Ware? Didn't think so.
