Jason King, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Priest Holmes (neck) did not practice again Sunday, Aug. 19, despite saying he would return to the practice field that day. He did work alone on the sidelines. Holmes said his return was delayed because team president/general manager Carl Peterson was out of town. He said team physician Jon Browne wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page before Holmes hit the field. However, head coach Herman Edwards said doctors gave Holmes the OK to take part in contact drills. Edwards said he had a long talk with Holmes and Holmes hinted he wasn't in good enough condition to return. Edwards then called Holmes not practicing a "collective decision" to leave him on the PUP for the time being. Holmes also was not present recently at the team's game, instead opting to go spend time with his family. Holmes said it was excused by the team but Edwards said he wasn't aware of it.
