Did anyone else catch Mayock's comments on Darren McFadden, he said he wouldn't pick him with the first 20 picks! wow...lol. Can you imagine if McFadden fell like Steven Jackson did?? you just never know...I remember Steven Jackson and Aaron Rodgers were ALL projected going very early and both dropped to the bottom of the 1st round...

Yeah wouldn't that be something? Jerry would never be able to pass that up.

Something tells me if he's around at #8, Jerry trades both first rounders to get him. That's about what our picks are worth.

I still dont think we need him.. but other positions first.. but Jerry has the money..

I don't think he will last past #6, which is where I have had him going the whole time....to the Jets.

Yeah I find it hard to believe also that the Jets would pass up McFadden. Unless they wanted both our picks in the first. I still am like DC here. We have other more important needs IMO.

Really? I would be surprised if the Jets took him just because they've got a decent feature back in Thomas Jones. He didn't do a fantastic job last season but if they paired him up with a 2nd rounder I think they'd end up with a great running game for a much better price.
But I guess I could see the Jets taking him. I'm just wondering if they're not going to be looking for one of the first round quarterbacks instead. Seems like they've lost all confidence in Chad Pennington and none of their backup quarterbacks impressed me at all.
Maybe McFadden will fall into the middle of the first round and he'll be much cheaper for Jerry to obtain if that's still what he wants.

I dont see the Jets needing him with Jones, and Leon Washington there. The Raiders would be a team to watch, Al will draft McFadden, they dont have a running game right now. After them it'll be a free fall to:
Carolina #13
Arizona #16
Texans #18
There's no way the Texans pass on McFadden, Houston will burn down if they pass on another good running back...
Dallas #22

I forgot about Leon Washington being there. I guess you guys are right the more I think about it. They will probably be looking for a QB first. But I bet you they really think about it if McFadden falls to them. It would be tough to not really want to pull that trigger.

For sure. People are calling McFadden the best runningback prospect in a long time. I couldn't imagine the jets not at least considering taking him. Thomas Jones or Leon Washington could always be traded for other draft picks later in the draft.
My only problem with Dallas not moving up for McFadden if he falls enough is that we were in this same situation last season. We had a late 1st draft pick, and we concentrated on trying to move up to get Calvin Johnson, when we really should have at least made an offer to try and get Adrian Peterson. I can't even imagine what this team could have accomplished with marion Barber and Adrian Peterson tearing it up last year. I think that would have easily been worth last year's 1st rounder and this year's first rounder at least.

Mayock actually listed a different running back ahead of McFadden. It all depends if this is a trend. I don't remember the other RB's name, but if he's being ranked by some people ahead of McFadden, maybe he's worth a look? That intrigues me a little bit. We might have another situation of Edgerrin James vs Ricky Williams on our hands here. Two runningbacks that turned out to be great (Ricky Williams was great.... when he was playing and not getting into trouble) and teams just had to decide between the two backs.

Anything is possible, like I said before, Jackon and Rodgers were top 5 projected picks and just about fell off the map. I still want to get that secondary addressed.

Quinn was a top 5 to some last year and fell clear to us.. Anything is possible.. but I am with Joe on this.. I want a strong secondary first.. Or a Wr..

Anyone who has watched our Boys play the last 2 or 3 years should want us to fix our secondary first. This has been an open wound on our team for the longest time.

Rashard Mendenhall - Illinois
I like this dude a lot, but I don't see him available at 22.

The Jets might have Leon Washington but the only thing he is worth is special teams. Thomas Jones is decent but I really don't think he is starting material unless he has a really good number two taking reps. The Jets will either take McFadden if he is available or an OLB, probably Gholston, since I know they are interested in him. McFadden definitely has more value than Gholston at 6 so if it comes to choosing I don't see it being anyone other than Gholston.
The Raiders have Fargas, Rhodes, and Michael Bush so I do not see them going for a first round RB even if it were McFadden. They need to go DL. If Dorsey somehow falls to them they will go with him, I currently have them taking Ellis.
Plus, I think the Jets actually do really like Kellen Clemens, he is a good QB, if you were to suddenly inject him with some pocket pressence.

Mendenhall is good RB but is no where near McFadden, I am really not sure what Mayock is smoking but it must be amazing. Rashard will be a successful back in the NFL that I do not doubt. I just would rather have someone that is a little faster. The more I think about the more I don't see us going RB in the first. I think it should be CB and then WR, and that is purely based on the value of the prospects. I think a good RB will be available in the second round. It looks like Chris Johnson will be in the second and possibly another pick that most people have thought would be first rounders, Stewart/F Jones. It really depends on what the different teams big boards look like. I can just see one of these teams picking someone in the first that we didn't see and pushing someone else out.
