NFL head coaches don't come much more humble than Wade Phillips, but he's not afraid to remind folks from time to time that he's a defensive whiz.
One of those moments came on the eve of training camp, when he proclaimed himself as a great defensive coordinator eager to prove he's a great head coach. We saw another glimpse of Phillips' ego during his press conference today when a national scribe asked him about the offensive genius that is Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.
"Yeah, well, we got him twice last year," Phillips said, referring to the Chargers' two wins over the Broncos.
Phillips snapped right back into his usual form, following his quick boast by complimenting Shanahan for continued success with a bunch of different players in his scheme.
