good for him. what a bad situation he fell into. going to be the man at Arkansas. shouldn't take him long to turn them around.

He got out of there before that job killed him. What a mess that was for him to step in to. I really don't blame him at all. The only thing I wish coaches would do when asked about rumors is say No comment. Don't go out and say the exact opposite of what you know you are going to do. It makes you look like a moron and a lying uncaring Coach.

I'm not saying Petrino is that but he should have just kept his mouth shut to the media.

Boy isn't it grand to be a Cowboy fan now eh?

Right? Oh man the rumors with Garrett have not even started yet. We are going to hear his name rumored to so many College and NFL teams I think I will probably get dizzy trying to keep up with them all.

It is being reported that the one of the reasons he left was because when he was hired he came over excited about working with Vick. Now that Vick is gone I guess he has nothing to stay for anymore. Man I sure hope it really wasn't Vick that was the main factor in him taking that job because Vick IMO was slowly on the decline way before Petrino even got there. I bet the Falcons teammates are pissed.

I still don't blame him for wanting out of there I just don't agree with the way he went about it. Did he not learn anything from the whole Miami/Saban saga?

what a puss. first loses his team, and then quits.

I hope Zim gets a shot. That would be cool.

Coaches need to honor their contract or atleast finish the season before they jump ship, talk about a classless act. Leave the team after they just got their butts handed to them the day before.

Zimmer has been announced as the New Falcons Head Coach for the time being. All I can say is...God Bless ya Zimmer...and Good Luck because your going to need it.

OK guys gut check time.... with Saban running away last year, Petrino and maybe Kiffin (oakland) if the rumors are correct... do you think its' going to hurt the chances of future College HC to land a job in the nfl as a HC? I mean three HC from college in 2 years might scare some owners to go outside of the NFL circle.

Well it sure is a trend that if I were an NFL Owner I would not like. I would try though to not hold what other Coaches did against any I were to interview but it would be hard to ignore it as well.
