We saw what Wade Phillips' wild-and-crazy scheme is about tonight. The Cowboys brought pressure from all over.
Dallas also recorded one sack and one turnover, but the Broncos starting offense never put together anything resembling a decent drive. Jay Cutler completed seven of 13 passes for 58 yards in a half. Travis Henry gained only 25 yards on 10 carries.
"We are trying to create an identity," said LB Bradie James, who blitzed several times and was credited with a QB hurry. "We're going to pressure the quarterback, get in the backfield, create negative plays. I think you saw that tonight. We had fun."
The Cowboys were vanilla in the preseason opener in the Colts. Looked a lot like the conservative scheme seen around these parts the last few years. Phillips let 'em loose a little tonight. Marcus Spears said the D-line was much more active in part because of the confusion created by the blitzes.
"Once it gets going for real, we're going to crank it up to another level," FS Ken Hamlin said. "We're definitely hiding some things, but we'll use them real soon once the season starts."
